Resident Evil Village, Capcom’s memorable mainline entry in the survival horror-action franchise from last year, will get PlayStation VR2 support, which will be available for the PlayStation 5 version of the game.lets find Resident Evil Village on VR2 Play Station latest news.
Resident Evil Village’s VR support has yet to be announced by Capcom, and Sony’s next-generation virtual reality headset has yet to be announced. A teaser trailer revealed a lot of first-person action as well as tantalizing glimpses of Lady Dimitrescu at a terrifying scale.
Village’s predecessor, 2017’s Resident Evil 7 biohazard, was the first game in the franchise to support virtual reality. Last year, a Resident Evil 4 VR port for Quest 2 headsets was released.
Resident Evil Village hit Google Stadia, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Windows PC, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X in May 2021. Village’s blend of gunplay and scares was described as “the perfect cocktail of horror and action” in our review of the first-person survival horror game.
Sony’s second virtual reality headset, the PlayStation VR2, will launch with over 20 “major” games, according to the company. We still don’t know when the game will be released or how much it will cost, but we did get a look at some of the games that are being developed for the platform.
Sony debuted several teasers and trailers for upcoming PlayStation VR2 games at its State of Play event.
The most important announcement is that Capcom is working on a Resident Evil Village update that will support PS VR2. The game was released in May of last year to generally positive reviews from both players and critics, and it went on to win several Game of the Year awards.
Ethan Winters can now dual-wield weapons, as seen in the trailer, where he uses a shotgun and a pistol at the same time. Lady Dumitrescu, the game’s three-meter-tall antagonist, will undoubtedly appear even more… terrifying in virtual reality.
Sony confirmed that the upcoming Resident Evil 4 remake will include PS VR2 content, but did not specify whether the entire game will be playable in VR. It’s worth noting that the original RE4 was released last year for the Oculus Quest 2.
Following that, Sony released a new gameplay trailer for Horizon: Call of the Mountain, a PS VR2 exclusive. Dodging and using a compound bow are the mainstays of the combat system. There appears to be a lot of traversing and rock climbing, which looks fantastic if you’re not afraid of heights.
No Man’s Sky will also be available on PS VR2, though the game is already compatible with Windows-compatible headsets and the first-generation PS VR. Likely, the new version will only be optimized for Sony’s new VR controllers.
Finally, The Walking Dead: Saints & Sinners – Chapter 2: Retribution is a new PC zombie shooter that will be available on PS VR, PS VR2, and Oculus Quest.
Because the PlayStation VR2 platform isn’t yet available, none of these games have an exact release date.
Capcom debuted the most surprising trailer of the night, as well as the least surprising, during Sony’s June State of Play showcase, with the Resident Evil 4 reveal (complete with a release date!). For PS VR2, the latter, of course, goes to Resident Evil Village.
Resident Evil Village is a perfect candidate for a VR conversion as a first-person horror game, so it’s a little strange that it’s taken this long for one to be announced. Of course, given Sony’s upcoming PS VR2 headset, it’s possible that Sony had a hand in its development.
During the show, we got a brief trailer with gameplay snippets, including the famous meet with Lady Dumitrescu, demonstrating how well Capcom understands its audience. This appears to be the complete game, which isn’t surprising. It will also work with the PS VR2’s Sense controllers.
Unfortunately, the trailer does not indicate a release date, but reports suggest the VR headset will arrive in the early months of 2023, so that could be when we see the update.
Resident Evil 7 was, of course, fully playable in virtual reality with the original PlayStation VR headset. Even though many expected it to come to PC VR later, that conversion remained exclusive to PlayStation. The VR update for Resident Evil Village will most likely follow a similar path.
It’s also worth noting that today’s announcement makes no mention of whether or not the update will be free or require payment.
PS VR 2 price
Sony is unlikely to price the PSVR 2 at $299, given that it will likely have several intuitive design choices and features. Instead, the console will most likely be released at the same price as its predecessor: $399.
