According to his agent Pimenta, Juventus star needs more time to recover from a knee injury and Pogba is out from the World Cup 2022 for France
Paul Pogba, according to his agent, will miss France’s World Cup defense because he needs more time to recover from knee surgery.
“Following yesterday and today’s medical review in Torino and Pittsburgh, it is extremely painful to inform Paul Pogba will still need recovery time from his surgery,”
“For this reason, Paul will not be able to join Juventus’ squad before the World Cup break nor the French National Team in Qatar.”
The 29-year-old midfielder playing for Juve prior to the World Cup is “very unlikely,” according to Massimiliano Allegri, the team’s coach, who made that statement on Friday.
Earlier on Monday, the Italian media reported that Pogba’s thigh injury could keep him out for about 15 days.
“Paul Pogba, in light of the recent radiological examinations performed and the consultation carried out in Pittsburgh by Prof. Volker Musahl on the evaluation of his knee, needs to continue his rehabilitation program,” Juve said in a statement.
Twelve Juve players are currently injured, including Pogba.
Since rejoining Juventus from Manchester United in the summer, he hasn’t played for the club because he injured his right knee’s meniscus in July.
He initially decided against having surgery in an effort to participate in the Qatar tournament, which begins on November 20.
Pogba changed his mind and decided to have surgery after returning to training at the beginning of last month, which kept him out of action until he started working out with Juve again two weeks ago.
Pogba played a significant role in helping France win the World Cup in Russia four years ago. He scored in the championship game’s 4-2 victory over Croatia.
He joins midfield partner N’Golo Kante, who is out for four months after undergoing surgery for a hamstring injury, in missing from Didier Deschamps’ squad.
Since being forced to leave the game against Tottenham in August with a limp, Kante, 31, had not appeared for Chelsea.
Missing the World Cup adds to Pogba’s difficult year, which also includes his alleged involvement in an extortion plot involving his own brother.
The World Cup winner, Mathias Pogba, 32, and four other individuals were charged last month. The World Cup winner had complained to Turin prosecutors in July that he was being blackmailed for $12.6 million in 13 million euros.
According to Paul Pogba, his blackmailers wanted to discredit him by making the false claim that he asked a witch doctor to cast a spell on Kylian Mbappe, a player for Paris Saint-Germain and the France national team, which Pogba vehemently refutes.
