Is free-to-play PUBG Lite will shuts down?
“We are incredibly grateful for the PUBG Lite fans’ dedication to the game.”
PUBG Lite, the low-spec free-to-play version of the game, will be shut down at the end of the month.
What exactly is PUBG LITE?
PUBG Lite PC is a new free version of the PUBG PC game with reduced graphics intended for use on computers and laptops with lower-end specifications. You’ll be airdropped on a mysterious island with 100 other players from all over the world in PUBG Lite. Your mission is to locate guns and other weapons quickly in order to eliminate your opponents. You would be declared the winner if you are the last person standing.
PUBG Lite, formerly known as PUBG Project Thai, is a low-spec version of the game that allows players with simple PCs and laptops to play. It was first tested in Thailand before being expanded to other countries a few years ago.
The free-to-play game, however, will be shut down on April 29th. The decision was made without explanation.
“We are profoundly grateful for the passion and support of the incredible number of PUBG Lite fans who have been with us,” according to a post on the official website. “We hope that PUBG Lite was able to provide our fans with a fun way to stay healthy during the difficult times of the COVID-19 pandemic.”
“Unfortunately, after much deliberation, we have made the difficult decision to end service, and our journey has come to an end. We regret to notify you that the PUBG Lite service will be discontinued on April 29th, 2021 (UTC).”
You will be able to play the game and spend in-game credits as normal until the “termination time,” including the L-COIN that you already have.
For April Fools’ Day, PUBG Corp launched POBG (short for Playeromnomnom’s Battlegrounds), an arcade-style minigame for PUBG in which you combat chickens. Players must aim their way through “rooms” loaded with chickens who parachute from the sky and fire semi-automatic weapons at them.
If you missed the announcement the first time around, don’t worry; since it’s a limited-time minigame, you can play it on PC until April 12th, while console players can play from April 8th to 18th.
